More about Aluminum Sheet Metal     This solid aluminum sheet metal is ideal for fine craft work, Tooling, Embossing, Scrap Booking & Hobby. It is light weight & easily bent.      This raw aluminum sheet has a bright satin finish with slight surface variations that add handmade character to creations made of this natural element.   Aluminum does not solder easily and special equipment is needed, but it can easily be joined with adhesives such as silicone, liquid nails, super glue, and a metallic glue called liquid solder. Test on a sample before ordering a large amount to make sure it will behave as needed. Be sure to clean the metal before using adhesives.   This metal can be used raw or painted easily. Aluminum tarnishes more slowly than copper & Silver.   The medium weight 30 gauge cuts easily with scissors . Embosses, tools and folds easily, ideal for small to medium craft projects.    The heavy 24 gauge aluminum sheet is our thickest & holds its' shape best for larger craft work. It cuts with a tin snips or heavy shears. Twice as thick as 30 gauge above.   Our 36 gauge aluminum sheet is a foil ideal for embossing & tooling. Our Colorful Foils are great for holidays. Our cuts of art metal are generously long & approximately square. Metal by the running foot or yard is shipped in one length whenever possible. We use this metal to craft our own creations.   Most sheet metal is shipped in a roll if more than one foot wide or long. If necessary ripples or curves can be flattened by rolling it with a smooth rolling pin or plastic pipe section on a completely smooth surface such as a countertop, smooth wood or heavy glass table. It also can be rolled slightly the other way to flatten.   Grades:  These solid metals are of an especially pure high grade for fine craft work. All of It is solderable except aluminum..                 New Craft Metal has a bright rolled satin finish. It may have some very slight manufacturing ripples, scratches & color variations.  All metal is new unless on our Recycled/ Reclaimed Metal page.                         Reclaimed -Recycled metal: This unused older metal has scratches, finger prints, ripples and/or dents. Some is shiny and and some has patina from age. It is all very usable at a good price. We use this metal in our own creations. For example 23 gauge sheet metal is more than twice as thick as 30 gauge.
