 Our Creations are made to last from solid
copper, bronze and brass. These quality materials together with
solid construction ensure that our creations will provide years
of enjoyment in your home or garden.

- The
soft brushed raw finish will gain a rich natural patina with
time or they can be cleaned occasionally and coated with paste
wax to preserve the original finish.
- With
weathering, the copper will first turn a rich red bronze color
and eventually progress to a green or blue green/turquoise color.

 This coloration is called 'patina'
which is actually a thin layer of oxidation on the surface
or the metal.
-

- The
distinctive green color of aged copper is called 'verdigris'.
The most famous example of this is the Statue of Liberty.
Natural patinas acquired over time are deeper, richer and more
durable color. Copper roofs may last many hundreds of years.

- It is
possible to speed up the patina process using chemical solutions.
Bottled patina formulas are available in the paint departments
of most craft supply and hardware stores. Caution should be used
as these chemicals are corrosive and must be used in a well ventilated
area.

- Blue

- Iron
and Steel acquire a rust patina that ranges through many colors
including dark red, orange red, brown or black.

- Larry
Henke's one-of-a-kind sculptures often feature rusted iron with
other metals which gain their own respective patinas.

- Rust
patinas can be stabilized with a light coat of thinned linseed
oil. Larry Henke does this with his pieces giving them even richer
darker tones and a weather proof finish. This is a classic coating
for wrought iron and should be re-applied annually.
