Fabriano Esportazione Hand Made Watercolor paper:
This is considered one of the finest hand made watercolor paper still being made.

Many of my best paintings are on this paper:
140lb Cold Pressed (not hot pressed) 22 x30 inches

The surface has changed recently and is very slightly more rough.

This is the texture of a piece Vintage 140 lb Cold Pressed from the 1980's: on top with a newer one of the same.
Below is the texture of a piece new 140 lb Cold Pressed from recent years:

These watermarks appear on this paper new and vintage.
Watermarks read C.M. FABRIANO (ITALY) HAND MADE

They also make a rough which is the most robustly rough papers I know of.

I am searching for for Vintage Blank Hand Made Fabriano paper
in good or better condition- please E-MAIL US
I am particularity interested in Esportazione watercolor paper 140lb cold pressed with the older smoother surface.

Fabriano Roma Hand Made Paper :
This is a fabulous hand made paper and is still being made.
It is laid paper with a texture and surface just perfect for fine drawings and prints.
A most sensual to the eye and to touch.

This Fabriano Roma paper comes in several colors,
this is a creamy white color.

This watermarks appears on this paper - the symbol of the founding of Rome.
The watermark is about 3 x 3 7/8 inches - 7 1/2 cm x 10 cm approximately
Note the vertical screen lines.
The paper appears darker as it was photographed with light coming through the back.

These sheets are believed to be Italian,
possibly Fabriano chain laid papers c 1560 with watermarks

All are from a group of blank paper salesman samples originally nested & sewn together in a folio. They may be from one paper mill or several. The chain lines are very similar.

The fine detail of the watermark may indicate a later date.
If anyone knows resource for confirming watermark, maker and date please contact me.
